501 CLUB MANAGER and ANN ARBOR HEAD COACH:
Coach Gina R.N., RRCA Certifified and Certified Wellness Coach. You will find Gina at practically every group practice in Ann Arbor leading the runners forward with a passion for running, competing, and having a good time. Gina also manages and directs the Northville/Novi, West Bloomfield, and Traverse City locations with their head coaches.
Born in 1949, Gina started running at an early age when she ran away from home and she has been running ever since. Gina started tracking her miles in 1978, and got addicted to road racing in 1990. Gina has an extensive background in health care and fitness, and adds a creative edge to her training programs. She brings the experience of training long and hard to her runners. Gina's background has enabled runners to break through their barriers to achieve the optimal level of fitness. Coach G!na, a licensed Registered Nurse, RRCA certified adult running coach, and ACSM Wellness Coach, did not earn her right to train runners by "sitting on the porch". Gina uses synergistic coaching* with her runners who learn the power of running and how it can change your life. Email Gina: runningfit501@runningfit.com

Nancy run 8 marathons including 5 Bostons! Nancy says she ran aimlessly until she discovered the Running Fit Training Program. From there she excelled and now loves meeting new runners and helping them meet their objectives while having fun along the way.
Ge Zhang
Ge has been running with 501ers since 2006 when she trained for her first half marathon. Ge has run several half marathons and two full marathons. She loves helping new runners and supports runners in the back of the pack.
Ernie Ku
Ernie trained under Coach Gina for his first marathon, the 2002 Honolulu Marathon, at age 52. Since then he has completed 3 other marathons: the 2003 Chicago Marathon, the 2004 Columbus Marathon (PR 4:06) and the 2005 Detroit Marathon. He is currently training for the inaugural 2012 Ann Arbor Marathon.
Marie Brooks and Mitch Planck
Both Marie and Mitch (pictured above with their son) have been with 501ers since 2006 when they trained for their first half marathons. They are a great husband and wife team and help to support runners in the mid-pack on Saturday's long runs.
Sonia Kraftson
Sonia loves running since age eight, when she ran with her dad and sisters, and then ran in middle school, through high school and college competitively. With a 5K PR of 17:50 in college, Sonia began training for her first marathon with a training group similar to "501", but she describes her first marathon as "painful" and finished in 3:45.
Subsequent marathons were: 3:30, 3:14, a 3:33, 3:07 and a her last at 3:01:36, in 2006. Sonia has a goal break 3 hours at the 2012 Chicago Marathon and she believes setting this goal with friends who share the same desire can help them in motivating and supporting each other.
While in Chicago, Sonia ran and competed with the FleetFeet/Nike Racing Team. Her favorite racing distances are between 10K and a half marathon as she likes to go all out and still get up to run the next day. But she likes the marathon as a goal, because it is "bigger than me". Sonia is a relaxed runner who likes to cheer and support other runners. She is passionate and ready to talk, share and hit the mile markers one at a time. Sonia is looking forward to seeing what she can do in 2012 with the support of the RunningFit Community.
Cindy Goodhue (pictured with husband Coach Doug Goodhue) and Lee Mamola. Both Cindy and Lee have been with NN 501 for the past 4 years and both have a long history of marathon running in the past and in the present. Gary Morgan, Olympian Race Walker frequently runs and supports the NN running group.

From young children to mature adults, Nick understands the balance a runner must have in their training to run their best. He is involved at many levels in influencing and helping other runners achieve their personal best. He currently is a high school coach for both cross country and track, works with youth coaches to help build healthy and happy kids, and provides focused training for adults looking to achieve their personal best through a balanced training plan.

As a high school runner Nick earned all state honors 3 times at 3200 meters. At the University of Michigan his career was highlighted with a win in the 10,000 meters at the 2004 Penn Relays, All-Big Ten 10,000 meters in 2003 and 3 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Legendary Coach Ron Warhust, over his three decades as the distance specialist at Michigan, Warhurst has led 40 individuals and eight relays to All-America citations in track and field and developed 38 All-Americans in cross country. Among his notable runners are John Scherer (1986-89), a three-time NCAA track champion and eight-time All-American; Kevin Sullivan (1994-98), a four-time NCAA track champion who holds 14 All-American citations in track and cross country in addition to a fifth-place finish at the 2000 Olympics in the 1500-meter run, and Brian Diemer (1980-83), the 1984 Olympic steeplechase bronze medalist — the last American male distance runner to medal in an Olympic Games. Most recently, Warhurst coached Nick Willis to the silver medal in the 1,500-meter run at the 2008 Beijing Games. Over his tenure, Warhurst has coached seven Olympic athletes. On top of his work coaching runners on the track, Warhurst has had great success coaching elite marathoners, including Greg Meyer, who stands as the last American man to win the Boston Marathon in 1983, and Lisa (Weidenbach) Rainsberger, the last American woman to win the Boston Marathon in 1985.
As a collegiate runner himself, Warhurst starred on two NCAA championship teams at Western Michigan University in 1964 and 1965. Following his graduation in 1966, he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan. From 1968-70, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Navy Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam.
Former U-M star Nate Brannen had this to say about coach Warhurst. “The success he’s had not only on the college level but on the international level speaks a lot about him and his ability as a coach. Not only is he a great coach, he’s also a great mentor.”
“Ron is just a natural coach,” said Diemer. “He knows how to read his athletes, and he adjusts his training and approach accordingly. He treats every athlete differently based upon characteristics unique to that person. Ron knows how to push his athletes to bring out the best.”
Warhurst is eager to work with runners of all abilities, all ages, and all unique running goals. Email Warhurst today ronverynice@gmail.com.
